Carl Sagan was the man. (Part 2)

It’s hard to try and narrow down the inspiration given by Carl throughout my self discovery and the drive for In the Centre Lies Virtue. If you too are looking for some sense of reality and truth then you may have to change what for all of your life, you thought was true. This is OK. It is time to grow up and face the hard truth rather than a reassuring fable. The truth helped free my mind and made me much more creative and fearless in creating my abstract paintings.

The hard truth is much more beautiful and awe-inspiring than anything we could have imagined. We are not the centre of the universe, we are not important in the scheme of the cosmos, but we as far as we know, are the only species able to interpret that universe.

We cannot ignore our origins just because we may not like what they say about us but if we want to be mentally healthy and fearless we must face the facts – “we’re jonny come lately’s, we live in the cosmic boondocks, we emerged from microbes in muck, apes are our cousins, our thought’s and feeling’s are not fully under our own control… and on top of all this we are making a mess of our planet and becoming a danger to ourselves”
